Preschool Director

Katie Wetherington

Katie grew up in Dacula Georgia, graduated from the University of Georgia and married her high school sweetheart.  She and her husband, Jonathon, married in 1999 and have three daughters, Abigail, Anabel and Rachel Mae.  Katie’s background is in human resource management, operations and staffing. Katie worked at MZP while her girls were young and while teaching her deaf daughter to listen and speak. After returning to the corporate world for several years, God brought her back to MZP as our Director in 2015. Katie is passionate about preschool education and wants kids to fall in love Jesus and with learning.

Administrative Assistant

Melissa Brown

Melissa has lived in the Gwinnett area her entire life (in fact she grew up right here on Scenic Highway) and graduated from South Gwinnett High School.  She attended Shorter University in Rome, GA before marrying her high school sweetheart, Jason.  Jason and Melissa have been married since 1998 and now have 5 beautiful children- 2 biological and 3 adopted. Melissa taught at Mount Zion Weekday Preschool from 1999-2007 while two of her children attended here.  She was excited to return to Mount Zion Preschool in her new role as Administrative Assistant in 2017.

Curriculum Coordinator

Ruth Gray

Ruth Gray is a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, and she taught threes in the Weekday Preschool from 2003-2018.  Ruth has been serving as the curriculum coordinator since 2016 and works very hard to ensure our resources are kept organized and up to date.  A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Ruth has been married to her husband Joe since 1988, has three daughters and two grandchildren.  Ruth enjoys scrapbooking, spending time with family, reading, and traveling.

Music Teacher

Ali Morgan

Ali has been a Gwinnett County resident all her life! She graduated from Parkview High School in 1993. Shortly after completing a music degree from Mercer University, she married her high school sweetheart and began her happily ever after!  Ali shared her musical talent in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Atlanta Opera company for a few years. Then, while running a successful Tupperware business for many years, God blessed the Morgan’s with 2 beautiful daughters. Her daughters had the privilege of attending Mt. Zion Preschool every year of their preschool days! She is now honored to share her musical talents with the precious kids and their families at Mount Zion Preschool. 

4 Year Old Teachers

Holly Ramsour

Lead Teacher, 4/5 Transition Class

Holly Ramsour is the lead teacher for our Transition Class.  She has taught in public schools and has been on staff at MZ Preschool since 2012.  Holly, a native Texan, graduated from Baylor University. She met her husband Marc while on a mission trip. Marc and Holly married in 1998 and have 3 daughters. She wants her students to leave every day excited about learning.

Jan Byers

Lead Teacher, 4 year old program

Jan was born and raised in Grayson Georgia and received an associate degree from Georgia Perimeter College.  She and her husband, Ed, have one daughter, Rachel.  Jan strives to ensure the children leave preschool with a love for learning and for Jesus.  Jan joined our MZP team in 2002.

Jill Story

Lead Teacher, 4 year old program

Jill has been ministering to children and youth through preschool teaching, children’s church, puppet ministry, Sunday school, youth counseling, and bus driving for over 30 years. In addition to teaching in our 4 year old program, she leads all of the 4 year olds in their PE activities. Jill has 2 grown daughters, 2 sons-in-law, and 2 granddaughters. Ms. Jill Joined MZP in 1996.

Kathy Jarvis

Lead Teacher, 4 year old program

Kathy loves teaching and reading books! She joined MZP in 1995 and has been working with fours the entire time. Kathy and her husband, Bill, married in 1986 and have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Mrs. Kathy makes learning fun!

Gayle Kelley

Assistant Teacher, 4/5 Transition Class

Gayle Kelley and her husband, Tony, married in 1979 and have four children, and nine grandchildren. God gave her a passion to teach the word of God and show the love of Christ to children. Knowing this calling on her life, Gayle started teaching and working with children at a young age.  She leads our Bible class for our four year old program and has been teaching at Mount Zion Preschool since 1997.

Linda Jimerson

Assistant Teacher, 4 year old program

Linda Jimerson has been married since 1976 to Jim, her high school sweetheart. She has two adult children and two precious grandchildren, who also attended Mt Zion Preschool. She has been a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church for over 20 yrs and has been teaching at Mt Zion Preschool since 2002. Her teaching philosophy is to prepare children to be successful students and to love them the way she wants her grandchildren loved.

Dawn Barker

Assistant Teacher, 4 year old program

Dawn Barker has been teaching preschool since 2013.  She married her husband in 1997 and together they have 3 beautiful girls and attend Bethlehem Church. Mrs. Dawn worked at Gwinnett Medical Center for 19 years as a registered nurse. After balancing preschool and nursing, she decided to "retire" from nursing.  Mrs. Dawn is certified to teach CPR and first-aid and leads our staff in our certification classes. She also leads our afterschool STEM class. Most importantly, Mrs. Dawn loves to teach children they are special in every way because they are the children of the true King.

Jessica Cash

Assistant Teacher, 4 year old program

Jessica grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and graduated from Athens State University. She and her husband, Thomas, were married in 2006 and have 3 boys. Jessica is an active volunteer in the children’s ministry at her church and volunteers at her boys elementary school. She loves helping children discover and learn new things as well as teaching them the love of Christ.

Brittany Crow

Assistant Teacher, 4 year old program

Brittany Crow is a Georgia girl, born and raised.  She married her high school sweetheart, Matthew in 2007.  Brittany and Matthew have two sons, Aiden and Grayson. Brittany and her family have attended Mount Zion since 2012 and she has served in preschool ministry with previous churches since 2007. Brittany’s background includes office management for a medical supply company and owning her business, Brittany Crow Photography (BCP).  Needless to say, she loves photography.  Brittany’s favorite part of serving at MZP is teaching children to smile and to love Jesus!

3 Year Old Teachers

Amy Baker

Lead Teacher, 3 year old program

Amy started teaching at Mount Zion Weekday Preschool in 2012. She grew up in Savannah and graduated from Georgia Tech. She and her husband Chad have four children and attend church at Mount Zion. Amy loves watching preschoolers blossom and grow as they make new friends and learn about the love of Jesus at Mount Zion.

Tracey Ogburn

Lead Teacher, 3 year old program

Tracey Ogburn is a long time resident of Gwinnett County.  She attended Five Forks Middle (the year it opened) and Brookwood High School.  She graduated from UGA and has been married to her husband Darien since 1990.  Tracey and Darien have 2 children.  Tracey is very involved with Grayson Cluster schools, Grace New Hope Church and Boy Scout Troop 56.  She loves hanging out with the little guys and watching them grow into Godly beings!

Becky Fleming

Lead Teacher, 3 year old program

Becky grew up in Augusta, GA and graduated from Georgia College in 2007 with a Bachelor’s in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry. She married in 2007 to David and they have 2 children, Brayden and Quinn. She is very passionate about education, her faith, and making sure every child feels loved and adored. She loves to bake and never turns down a good donut or a piece of chocolate/candy.  Becky began teaching at Mount Zion Preschool in 2017.

Kelley Faber

Lead Teacher, 3 year old program
& 4 year old assistant

Kelley is a native to the Susquehanna Valley area in Pennsylvania. Shortly after graduation from Penn State, she moved to Georgia, and in 2010 married her high school sweetheart. She and her husband have one daughter, Annie, who is enrolled at Mount Zion. Kelley loves animals, and has spent some time working at the Georgia Aquarium developing children’s programs. She also enjoys cooking, crafts, and gardening. She loves working at Mount Zion and helping children expand their love for God and learning.

Alexandra Vigorita

Assistant Teacher, 3 year old program

Alexandra was born and raised in Venezuela. She is an architect and graduated from Universidad Central de Venezuela. She moved to the USA in 2011 after marrying her husband Antonio. Their daughter Christina attended Mount Zion Preschool. She enjoys being around kids because when you give them love, they give you a lots of laughter, joy and happiness in return. Her hobbies are needlecraft, gardening and cooking. She feels blessed to be part of the MZP team and help children learn and grow in their love for Christ. You will easily recognize her because even on hots days she is wearing a turtleneck.

Sarah Zaffos

Assistant Teacher, 3 year old program

Sarah grew up in Gwinnett County, Georgia. She received her B.A. in English at Kennesaw State University, where she also met her husband, Jay. They have been married since 2008 and have three children. Sarah has a passion for learning and showing God’s love to children. She also enjoys crocheting in her spare time.

Vikki Broom

Assistant Teacher, 3 year old program

Vikki is from Marietta, Georgia. She attended Kennesaw State University where she met her husband Dion. Dion and Vikki have been married since 1985 and have 2 daughters, Megan and Emily.  While her children were younger, Vikki volunteered in the Grace Fellowship Church children’s ministry and Parkview Christian School. Vikki wants to love and care for each child as Christ loves us.

Alaine Zurita

Assistant Teacher, 3 year old program

Alaine grew up at Mount Zion and in addition to teaching at MZP, is a two-year old Life Group teacher.  She has spent 5+ years working as an in-home caregiver and has always had a love for children. Alaine and her son Skylar love spending time together, playing at the park and reading. Alaine also works part time as an ABA therapist helping children with disabilities.  Alaine is a great asset and brings a lot of joy to our program.

2 Year Old Teachers

Sunshine Edmunds

Lead Teacher, 2 year old program

Sunshine has been teaching two year olds at MZWP since 2003. She has a background and training in the performing arts. She uses that training to bring stories and activities in the classroom to life for the children. Sunshine is also the owner and director of our Footsteps in Faith after school dance program for children in our 3 and 4 year old classes. She and her husband Earl have 2 daughters and are in the international adoption process to adopt a son from Haiti. And yes, her real name is Sunshine!

Brooke Martin

Lead Teacher, 2 year old program

Brooke grew up in Fayetteville, GA and graduated from Auburn University.  She and her husband, Titus, have been married since 2008 and have two children, Ty and Maddie.  Brooke enjoys teaching kids new skills through play and having a role in their development.  She loves how Mount Zion Preschool intertwines the lessons of Jesus into our curriculum so that students can understand and can begin their love of Christ.

Caroline Cap

Lead Teacher, 2 year old program

Caroline grew up in Gainesville, GA and has lived in Gwinnett County since 1994. She married her husband in 1999, and they have 2 children.  Caroline received a diploma in Culinary Arts from Gwinnett Tech in 2002.  She began working at Mount Zion Weekday Preschool in 2011. Caroline’s hobbies include baking, reading and participating in mud runs and Obstacle Course Races.

Anna Norton

Assistant Teacher, 2 year old program

Anna Norton grew up in Newnan, GA. She earned her Associates Degree in Business Administration. Anna has always enjoyed working with kids: from nursery, Sunday School, babysitting, and working in a daycare setting.  She has loved every opportunity! She is married to Bobby, and they have 4 children, Lucy, Abbie, Olivia and one boy, Charlie. She loves watching her kids play sports and taking cruises with her family.

Blake Van Sant

Assistant Teacher, 2 year old program

Blake grew up in Sandy Springs, Georgia. She is married and has one daughter. Blake is an assistant teacher for the four day 2’s class. She has been teaching preschool since 2015. In her free time, she enjoys camping with her family and traveling. She is also very involved in the Grayson Cluster PTA. Blake attends church at Mount Zion. She enjoys watching children grow and helping them develop a love of Jesus.

Becky Layson

Assistant Teacher, 2 year old program

Becky and her husband, Lance, were married in 2006. They both grew up in the Brookwood area. They have 3 children, Ava, Maddox, and Asher. Back attended Georgia Southern University, majoring in Child and Family Development. She has always had a love for children and especially enjoys watching their excitement as they learn new things while growing their love for Jesus.

1 Year Old Teachers

Lindsay Williams

Lead Teacher, 1 year old program

Lindsay graduated from high school in Savannah before attending The University of Georgia where she received a BS in Biomedical Engineering.  She met her husband, Madison, at UGA and they married in Athens in 2007.  They have four children – Roe, Lennon, John and Reese – who have attended Mount Zion Weekday Preschool.  Lindsay and Madison spend half of their weekends at the ball field watching their children play ball and half of their weekend at their family farm outside of Augusta.  She is looking forward to leading the 1 year old W/F class this year.

Julie Seigler

Lead Teacher, 1 year old program

Julie grew up in Grayson Georgia and graduated from  Georgia State University with a BS in Psychology.  She and her high school sweetheart, Tim,married in 2007 and have 3 children Kathryn, Emma and Brayden. Her hobbies are crafting and reading. She enjoys watching little ones learn through play and how they delight in Jesus. 

Meg Wood

Assistant Teacher, 1 year old program

Meg grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she went to Chattanooga State Community College. Meg and her husband, Jeremy were married in 1998 and have 3 children Graceanna, Maisey, and Easton. Meg and Jeremy moved to Grayson, Georgia in 2005 and are members at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Meg and Jeremy teach a high school life group, and Meg enjoys getting to help ones learn as they play at preschool.

Katy grew up in Snellville, graduated from South Gwinnett High School and has a degree in Child and Family Development from The University of Georgia. She has been married to her High School sweetheart Andrew since 2003, and they have two beautiful daughters.

Amy has been subbing for Mount Zion Weekday Preschool since 1998.  She loves all students and works well with all ages.  She is dependable, friendly, and our #1 go to.   Amy works with Mount Zion Children’s ministry as well.  Amy is married and has three adult daughters- Naomi, Elizabeth, and Rachel
